Under the Stamford Mentoring Collaborative, the Club's two locations in Stamford's west side neighborhood facilitate over 50 evidence-based educational and recreational programs, including three mentoring programs. All three programs are housed in our club locations and are a variety of group and 1-1 mentoring experiences; the programs include: STEM Mentoring for 2nd grade, Positive Actions for 4th & 5th grade, and 5th Quarter Basketball for at-risk Middle School and High School students. First Light Project is a new and innovative violence prevention program that launched in the Fall of 2016 out of the Boys & Girls Club in Stamford. This 10-week mentoring program pairs combat veterans with at-risk youth to have a shared dialogue built on mutual understanding of trauma and perseverance. The intention is to alleviate the gun violence in Stamford while also bridging the civil-military divide in our community.
