Project Learn is a neighborhood-based network of learning centers in partnership with local churches and community organizations. We work with elementary school age children from Bridgeport's most underserved neighborhoods. Our after-school program emphasizes academics, offering homework help and tutoring, as well as healthy snacks, and positive recreational activities. The Kids for Kids Initiative adds a winning dimension to Project Learn. It engages inner city teenagers, often graduates of a Project Learn Center, to serve as mentors for the younger children, offering teens a productive, mutually beneficial alternative to simply 'hanging out' after school. Kids for Kids mentors receive a stipend, along with training in leadership skills.
