Higher Edge coordinates two programs, College Access Program, CAP, and Success Program. Through one-on-one advising, students learn to navigate and conquer the daunting application process in CAP. Together, advisors and students work to: Identify academic interests and potential careers, Visit college campuses, create a comprehensive college list, participate in personalized SAT tutoring, craft and polish essays, complete solid college applications, apply for financial aid, search and apply for scholarships, analyze financial aid awards and determine the most affordable option, make an informed college decision. The Success Program supports Higher Edge students who completed the College Access Program and have enrolled in college. Students are advised and mentored on their campuses for up to six years. This support focuses on academic, financial, and career guidance. Success Program students build on the skills developed in the College Access Program (CAP), serve as role models to students in the CAP, engage in individualized coaching, sensitive to their individual needs, connect with on-campus resources, ensure financial aid packages are consistent and secured, receive transfer coaching, if needed, gain access to leadership opportunities, and secure summer internship placement.
