FUSION is a peer-to-peer mentoring program that is run in conjunction with Newtown High School which pairs pre-screened juniors with incoming freshman for one full school year. The goal of this program is to make the transition into Newtown High School, easy, fun, and exciting for incoming freshman. The program incorporates team building exercises, prevention of underage drinking, and built in academic support time during meeting times. Additionally, matches also participate in community service activities, academics, sports, and attend social activities together. The group meets every Monday during the advisory period (which is homeroom) and is run by a NYFS staff member as well as, support staff from the High School. Among other programs there is also a Homework club and Social Rec Club that offers support to kids.
